Do I need reservations to tour Luray Caverns?

You don’t need a reservation to tour the Caverns. Many guests purchase tickets upon arrival.

What if I miss my timed ticket entry?

We never sell out, and you can always gain access to the Caverns during operating hours.

How long does it take to tour Luray Caverns?

A self-guided tour of the Caverns takes a little over an hour. However, we recommend allowing 2-3 hours to tour the Caverns and experience the other attractions included with your general admission ticket.

What is included in the admission cost?

General Admission includes Luray Caverns, the Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, Toy Town Junction, and the Shenandoah Heritage Village.

Are there any discounts for individuals?

There are several ways you can get discounts on your entrance to Luray Caverns.

  • Children 5 and under: no charge when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Groups of 20 or more receive discounted admission.
  • $10.00 student tickets (through grade 12) for school-sponsored educational groups with 15 students or more.
  • 50% off your second adult ticket with a Giant or Martin’s BonusCard.
  • $6 off admission from participating military bases or discount tickets through participating MWR/ITT offices.
Do you have group rates?

Groups of 20 or more receive discounts. We ask that large groups contact our Reservation Office, 540-743-6551, a couple of weeks before their planned arrival.

How much do the Guided Discovery Tours cost?

Adult $65

Children $35

No discounts will be applied to Discovery Tour admission cost.

When are you open for tours?

Luray Caverns is open every day of the year. Self-guided tours depart after 9 am.

From April 1 to June 14
Daily 9am – 6pm

 From June 15 to Labor Day
Daily 9am – 7pm 

After Labor Day to October 31
Daily 9am – 6pm

From November 1 to March 31
Weekdays 9am – 4pm

Where can I park and is parking free?

There’s a free lot and plenty of open spaces near the entrance. Follow the signs from the driveway.

I drive a large RV, should I park in the regular lot?

Yes, we have ample free parking for RVs. If you plan on visiting during a holiday or holiday weekend, please call us in advance to confirm availability.

Do you close during bad weather events?

Outside weather does not affect tours of the cavern. We’re open every day of the year, rain or shine.

Inside Luray Caverns

Can I take photos in the Caverns?

You’re more than welcome to take photos. Remember to tag us @luraycaverns if you share them on Instagram.

Is it cold in the Caverns? / What should I wear in Luray Caverns?

The Caverns are a constant 54°F with very high humidity, which makes it feel more like 65°F. Some people prefer to bring a light jacket while touring the Caverns. We also recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Can I play the Great Stalacpipe Organ?

No. Performances from the console are only approved for publicity purposes involving television programs, news segments, documentaries, or celebrity appearances.

Are food and drink allowed inside Luray Caverns?

Food and drink are not allowed in the Caverns. We have snack and dining options available near our Welcome Center. However, it is okay to bring a picnic on the grounds.

Can I bring my pet?

Leashed pets are allowed on the Luray Caverns grounds outside. Guests are permitted to carry small pets on the tour.

Accessibility

Is there wheelchair and mobility scooter access?

Our step-free entrance will accommodate wheelchairs; however, Luray Caverns is not listed as handicapped accessible. The paved walkways on the tour are 1.25 miles in length with some areas having moderate grades that may require assistance for visitors with disabilities.

Are strollers allowed inside Luray Caverns?

Paved walkways are not usually too steep for strollers. We recommend bringing a small stroller.

Is it dark inside the Caverns? Will I need a flashlight?

You don’t need a flashlight. We are proud to offer tours along well-lighted, paved walkways throughout the Caverns.

Are there any areas of the Caverns that may be challenging for individuals with mobility challenges?

Some areas of the 1.25-mile path have moderate grades that may require assistance for visitors with disabilities.

Are there designated accessible parking spaces available close to the entrance of Luray Caverns?

Yes.

Are there restrooms in the Caverns?

No, there are no restrooms inside Luray Caverns. Please use the facilities above ground before entering for the Caverns tour.

  • Designed for small, intimate weddings with up to 12 guests

Luray Caverns Cathedral Wedding Package

  • Rate: $9,000
  • Designed for large weddings with up to 100 guests
