Reservations

You don’t need a reservation to tour the caverns. Many guests purchase tickets upon arrival. We never sell out, and you can always join a tour during operating hours.

Parking

There’s a free lot and plenty of open spaces near the entrance. See where here, and follow signs from the driveway.

Wheelchair Access

Our new step free entrance will accommodate wheelchairs; however, Luray Caverns is not listed as handicapped accessible. The paved walkways on the tour are 1.25 miles in length with some areas having moderate grades that may require assistance for visitors with disabilities.

Food and Drink

It is not permitted to bring food and drink into the Caverns. We have snack and dining options available in our Welcome Center. It is ok to bring a picnic on the grounds.

Caverns Temperature

The caverns is a constant 54 degrees with very high humidity that makes it feel more like 65 degrees. Some people do prefer a light jacket while touring the caverns. We also recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Cameras

Bring them. You’re welcome to take photos. Remember to tag us @luraycaverns.

Pets

Leashed pets are allowed on the Luray Caverns grounds outside. Guests are permitted to carry small pets on the tour.

Strollers

Paved walkways are not usually too steep for strollers.  We recommend bringing a small stroller.

Weather

Outside weather does not affect tours of the cavern. We’re open every day of the year, rain or shine.

Groups

Groups of 20 or more receive discounts. We ask that large groups contact our Reservation Office, 540•743•6551, a couple weeks before their planned arrival.

Stalacpipe Organ

The Stalacpipe Organ is played live during each tour by an automated system. Manual performances from the console are only given on special occasions.
