Join amateur astronomers for an engaging presentation on controlling light pollution while they highlight the stars and constellations.
The cooler temperatures and crisp Blue Ridge Mountain air at the 4,000-foot elevation make everything appear brighter, with stars sparkling more intensely.
These free astronomy events are held weekly at Skyland Resort and Big Meadows Lodge, with select Fridays at the Big Meadows Area (mile 51, outside the Rapidan Camp Gate). Program start times vary based on sunset. Telescopes are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars, blankets, chairs, jackets, and flashlights.
