A Civil War “mini-camp” for children ages 6-14 that’s perfect for veteran campers or for youngsters trying it for the first time.

Campers will enlist in a unit alongside living historians and learn about camp life, soldiers’ drills, equipment, and life during the Civil War; witness a musket demonstration; and take part in a mock battle! Artillery demonstrations at 11am, Noon, 1pm, and 2pm.

Presented by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation and the Heritage Museum. Also sponsored by the 10th Virginia Volunteer Infantry and Luray Caverns.

Cost: $10 per child (camp includes a commemorative t-shirt) Ages: 6-14 Pre-registration is required.

Parents are welcome to stay throughout the camp or drop their children off and return. If you do leave after dropping them off, we strongly encourage you to return in time to watch the mock battle at approximately 11:30am.

Please dress your children comfortably for the event. The camp will be held rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, events will be moved indoors.
