Welcome to the 2025 Luray SwimFest, proudly brought to you by French Creek Racing! This exciting open-water swim competition takes place at scenic Lake Arrowhead in Luray, VA and offers three race distances: 800 meters, 1600 meters, and 2400 meters. Participants can choose to compete in any or all distances, as the races are scheduled sequentially with no overlap. Combining events is encouraged, and those who do will have the opportunity to complete a total of 4,800 meters (3 miles) of swimming. You’ll be eligible for podium awards in each race you enter, though you’ll only receive one swag bag.
Each race will begin as scheduled, starting with the 800-meter event, followed by the 1600-meter race, and finishing with the 2400-meter swim. Swimmers will have a 10-minute warm-up period near the start area before each race. If a swimmer has not completed their event by the time the next race begins, they will be allowed to continue and finish without being pulled from the water. The swim starts will be conducted in wave format, with waves assigned based on each participant’s estimated 100-meter swim time. Faster swimmers will be grouped in the earlier waves, and each wave will be limited to 50 swimmers. Participants can update their estimated swim time up to 10 days prior to the event.
This professionally chip-timed event will offer instant race results at an on-site results kiosk, and a web link will be provided so friends and family can track swimmers in real time. Water and post-race snacks will be available at the finish line for both participants and volunteers.
For safety and uniformity, all swimmers must wear the provided swim cap with their assigned bib number clearly written on it. Wetsuits will be allowed if the water temperature is below 78.1°F, and typical June water temperatures range from the low to upper 70s. Fins or other swim aids are not permitted. Any swimmer who is unable to complete the course must check in with race officials at the finish line and return their timing chip.
