Just north of Luray, has been providing fantastic family fun on the Shenandoah since 1970.
Visitors can enjoy the cool waters of the river while floating past famous farmlands, soaking up the sun, fishing or sitting on the riverbanks and reminiscing. There are sections of river for all skill levels of adventure. The river is great for beginners with easy ripples, flat water, and short rapids. For the thrill seekers, there is one larger rapid. For those interested in river activities, all canoes, kayaks, rafts, and tube rentals come with life jackets, paddles, maps, safety instructions, and shuttle service.
SRO has grown to be the largest and most experienced canoe, kayak, and tube outfitter in the Mid-Atlantic region. The closest outfitter to the town of Luray, their South Fork location is on the most scenic area of the Shenandoah River. This region borders George Washington National Forest and is the nearest river facility to Luray Caverns and the main visitor areas along Skyline in Shenandoah National Park.
